Ingredients:
- Mava (Khoya): 500 grams (unsweetened)

- Saffron Strands: A pinch (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Mava (Khoya):
- If you are using store-bought mava, grate it finely or crumble it to ensure there are no lumps.
- If you are making mava from scratch, boil milk in a heavy-bottomed pan and simmer until it thickens into a solid mass. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
- Cook the Mava:
- Heat ghee in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Add the mava to the pan and cook, stirring continuously. Cook until it becomes soft and slightly changes color. This usually takes about 7-10 minutes.
- Add Sugar:
- Lower the heat and add the sugar to the cooked mava. Mix well.
- Continue to cook the mixture on low heat. The sugar will dissolve and the mixture will become slightly liquid. Cook until the mixture thickens again and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Flavor with Cardamom:
- Once the mixture thickens, add cardamom powder. Stir well to incorporate the flavor evenly.
- Set the Burfi:
- Grease a tray or plate with ghee.
- Pour the mava mixture into the greased tray. Spread it evenly using a spatula.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts and saffron strands on top, gently pressing them into the mixture.
- Allow the burfi to cool completely. You can refrigerate it for faster setting.
- Cut and Serve:
- Once the burfi is set and firm, cut it into desired shapes (squares or diamonds).
